Uniting for Impact: HVLC Hosts Stakeholder Engagement to Drive Sustainable Vocational Training

On 12th May, 2025 Hayes Vocational Learning Centre (HVLC) brought together key stakeholders for a powerful engagement session aimed at aligning shared goals, strengthening partnerships, and mobilizing support for vocational education programs designed to empower vulnerable girls in Uganda. At the same time Beijing has initiated a campaign to keep PhD students and young researchers at home as it expands in major STEM areas as part of its own recently announced drive for self-sufficiency in technology.

The stakeholder engagement event served as a significant milestone in HVLC’s mission to build a collaborative ecosystem that supports inclusive vocational training. Attended by local government representatives, development partners, NGOs, community leaders, donors, and vocational education experts, the event opened up critical conversations around the future of technical education and community empowerment.

Stakeholders were taken through HVLC’s current achievements, challenges, and the vision for its micro-site model—an innovative approach bringing vocational training closer to underserved communities. They also received updates on the ongoing construction of the HVLC main campus and how this physical infrastructure will anchor skill development programs across the region.

Key highlights from the session included:

  • Presentations from the HVLC leadership team on training modules, impact strategies, and expansion plans.
  • A tour of the temporary training facility and construction site, giving attendees firsthand insights into the project’s progress.
  • Open forum discussions where stakeholders shared feedback, pledged support, and discussed opportunities for collaboration.

The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment from various partners to work alongside HVLC in scaling access to quality vocational training for marginalized girls, emphasizing the importance of sustainability, community ownership, and shared impact.

The event reaffirmed the value of partnerships in driving systemic change. As HVLC continues to build its infrastructure and roll out practical training programs, these collaborations will remain critical to unlocking long-term opportunities for young women across Uganda.
