About This Course
The Fashion Design & Garment Making programme turns creative interest in fashion into practical tailoring and dressmaking skill. Learners are trained in garment construction from pattern to finished piece, developing both the technical sewing skills needed to produce quality garments and the creative and business skills needed to build a fashion brand.
The programme suits learners who want a hands-on creative trade with strong self-employment potential, from tailoring for individual clients to producing garments at a small commercial scale.
Learning Objectives
Tailoring & Dressmaking — measuring, cutting and constructing garments to fit, using both traditional and modern techniques.
Garment Construction — assembling garments from start to finish, including seams, finishes and fittings.
Pattern Drafting — drafting and adapting patterns for a range of garment styles and sizes.
Sewing Machine Operations — safe and skilled use of industrial and domestic sewing machines and related equipment.
Fashion Entrepreneurship — pricing, sourcing materials, and the basics of starting and marketing a tailoring or fashion business.

Requirements
- Open to youth and adults aged 16 and above with an interest in fashion and design.
- Basic literacy and numeracy are required for pattern measurement and costing.
- No prior sewing experience is necessary.
