About This Course
The Carpentry, Welding & Fabrication programme trains learners to turn raw timber and metal into finished, market-ready products for the construction, furniture and fabrication industries. Combining traditional joinery techniques with modern welding and metalwork practice, this programme is built for learners who enjoy working with their hands and want a trade that is always in demand — from home construction and furniture workshops to metal fabrication yards and industrial sites. Graduates leave with the technical know-how to build, repair and innovate, and the confidence to run their own workshop or join a construction crew from day one.
Learning Objectives
Carpentry & Joinery — reading drawings, measuring, cutting, joining and finishing timber to produce doors, windows, roofing structures and fittings.
Furniture Making — designing and constructing chairs, tables, cabinets and other furniture pieces to a professional finish.
Wood Technology — timber selection, treatment, seasoning and safe use of hand and power tools and machinery.
Welding & Fabrication — arc and gas welding techniques, metal cutting, joining and fabrication of frames, gates, grilles and structural components.
Metal Works & Construction Skills — reading construction plans, structural assembly and site-based building and installation work.

Requirements
- Open to youth and adults aged 16 and above. Basic literacy and numeracy are required; no prior carpentry or welding experience is necessary. Applicants should be physically able to undertake hands-on workshop training and committed to workplace safety practices. (suggested — to be confirmed by HVLC)
Target Audience
- Graduates are prepared to pursue employment or self-employment as: Carpentry • Furniture Production • Welding • Construction • Self-employment. This includes joining construction firms and furniture workshops, working as site carpenters or welders/fabricators, or starting an independent carpentry, joinery or welding and fabrication business

Graphics Design 101
Even if you’re a complete beginner, this course will show you how to make a website functional, attractive and successful. It will walk you through all of the steps required to enhance the User Experience on any site, right down to the code, content, and design. You’ll begin by defining who your website users are and what they expect from the website. You’ll also learn how business goals — yours or your client’s — have to be uncovered and addressed for site success. You’ll also get hands-on experience designing and coding three different types of sites. This will give you the confidence to pursue similar projects if you’re already a website designer, if you want to get into web design, or if you want to enhance your current business site.
